Rival protesters anticipated to clash on 11 February

The Croatian leftist group, Workers Front, who are planning to hold a protest outside the Defence Ministry in Zagreb on 11 February against the militarisation of society, have been warned away from the ministry location by the police. An opposing group, supporting the reintroduction of military service, will also protest on the same day outside the front of the ministry. The protest against the reintroduction of compulsory military service was first denied permission by the police as another rally was already planned for the same day. However, despite permission not being granted, it is likely that two opposing sides will protest in the same locations, undoubtedly resulting in clashes.

Those operating or residing in Zagreb are advised to be aware of a planned protest taking place on 11 February outside the Defence Ministry. Avoid large gatherings and protests and exercise caution if in the vicinity of any demonstrations due to the credible risk of violence breaking out. Monitor local media for up to date information about any associated disruptions to travel and follow the advice of local authorities.
