Wildfires continue to rage in the southern coastal areas of Croatia and Montenegro on 17 July. The fires have spread along the Dalmatian coast in municipalities around Split, Croatia, and around the Lustica peninsula and greater Podgorica region in Montenegro. Evacuations are ongoing in the affected areas. No casualties have been reported.
Heavy smoke and emergency response-related disruptions have reportedly caused traffic disruptions along the E65 in Croatia and the M23 heading toward Podgorica, Montenegro. Road transport disruptions leading from ports in Split are also likely. Disruptions are likely on local roads leading inland from the coast. Fires could spread as windy weather persists.
