Czech Republic: Authorities Announce Heightened Security at Airports Nationwide
Increased security deployed to airports in response to the threat of terrorism in Europe
A spokesperson for the Interior Ministry has announced a heightened state of security at airports nationwide, which includes the deployment of over 220 police officers to Prague’s Vaclav Havel Airport (PRG/LKPR), following a string of recent terror attacks in Europe. The heightened security is not said to be in response to any specific threat, but in response to the regional threat of Islamic extremist and terrorism in Europe.
Those operating or residing in the Czech Republic are advised to be aware of increased security at airports nationwide. Carry all of the necessary identification and documents at all times. Whilst the measures do not pose a direct threat to foreign nationals, travellers are nonetheless advised to remain vigilant and to be aware of the threat of Islamic extremism and terrorism in Europe. Report any suspicious packages, activity or behaviour to the local authorities.
