Gabon: Clashes Reported as Students Protest Across the Country
Students protest across Gabon
Police and security forces have fired tear gas into crowds of protesting high school students, who are demonstrating over the quality of their education. The clashes took place in Port-Gentil, Ogooue-Maritime Province, whilst similar demonstrations have been reported in Libreville, Estuaire province and Lambarene, Moyon-Ogooue province.
Those operating or residing in Gabon are advised to be aware of a series of protests taking place across the country. Anticipate heightened security and associated related traffic disruptions across the affected cities. Avoid all protests due to the credible risk of violence.
