Armed Man Takes Hostages at a Bank
An armed man is thought to have taken two employees, one male and one female, of the Sparkasse bank in Duisburg, 17 miles north of Düsseldorf, hostage during a robbery attempt. Special forces have been deployed to the area to try and diffuse the situation. Police have stormed the area and sealed off surrounding roads.
Anticipate heightened security and the associated disruptions to travel in Duisburg’s Rumeln-Kaldenhausen area for the next three to four hours, whilst security forces attempt to diffuse the hostage situation at the bank. Follow local media for updates and developments.
