Four Syrian males, three of whom were brothers, have been detained and their houses searched, on suspicion of belonging to Jabhat Fateh al Sham, formerly known as the Al-Nusra front, in Hamburg, Lubeck and Seevetal district. The suspects reportedly joined the group in November 2012 and engaged in fighting against the Syrian government.
Those who plan to travel to or within Germany are advised to be aware of the latest arrests of a suspected extremists. Whilst the arrests do not pose a direct threat to foreign nationals, travellers are nonetheless advised to remain vigilant. Report any suspicious packages, activity or behaviour to the local authorities.
