Germany: Unions Call for Airport Staff to Strike on 8 February

Possible strike may lead to flight disruptions

A spokesperson for the Ver.di union has called for ground staff to strike at Berlins Schoenefeld (SXF/EDDB) and Tegel (TXL/EDDT) airports, in a protest over wages. If it goes ahead, the planned strike will take place from 05:00 to 11:00 on 8 February. The union has also threatened to launch strikes at other airports nationwide.

Those who plan to fly to, from or within Germany are advised to be aware of a possible strike on 8 February at the above-mentioned airports. Reconfirm all flight schedules with booking agents or airline representatives before setting out. Monitor local media for more information concerning any further cancellations and follow all directives issued by local authorities.
