India: Latest Road Accident Highlights Nationwide Risk of Overland Travel
Road accidents frequent in India
At least 11 people have been killed and over 30 injured, after the passenger bus they were travelling on, en route to Hyderabad, fell off a bridge near Moolapadu village in Krishna district. The driver is said to have fallen asleep at the wheel.
Those operating or residing in India are advised to be aware of the frequency of road traffic accidents. Vehicle crashes are a common occurrence, resulting from poor driving standards, lax vehicle maintenance and unsafe road conditions. Travellers are advised to consider booking with ‘luxury’ or reputable bus lines.
