At least one person has been killed and two others wounded, when suspected Pokot bandits targeted travellers along the Tot-Chesongoch road in Elgeyo-Marakwet country, on 18 February. The attack was carried out in retaliation for the killing of a Pokot man by a Marakwet resident in the area the day before. Clashes regularly unfold between the two communities. Further attacks by Pokot travellers are likely.
Those operating or residing in Kenya are advised to avoid Elgeyo-Marakwet country due to ongoing violent clashes between communities in the region. Avoid all travel after dark and move only in convoys of three vehicles or more.
