Lebanon: US Department of State Issues Travel Warning

Avoid all travel in Lebanon due to the threat of terrorism and violence

The US Department of State has issued an updated travel warning to advise against all travel to Lebanon due to the high threat of terrorism, armed clashes, kidnapping and outbreaks of violence, particularly near to the border with Israel and Syria. Violent extremist groups operate in Lebanon, including U.S. government-designated terrorist organisations Hizballah, ISIL (Da’esh), Al-Nusrah Front (ANF), Hamas and the Abdullah Azzam Brigades (AAB). ISIL and ANF have claimed responsibility for suicide bombings in Lebanon.

Those operating or residing in Lebanon are advised to take heed of the latest security message advising against all travel in Lebanon. Travellers already working or living in Lebanon should be aware of the risks of remaining in the country. Remain vigilant at all times.
