On 3 May, Malaysian police confirmed that four men and two women were detained in separate arrests at Kuala Lumpur Airport (KUL/WMKK) and in the states of Penang, Kelanta, Malacca and Johor, on suspicion of having links to Islamic State (IS) group. Another IS-linked suspect is said to have escaped to southern Thailand with firearms.
Whilst the likelihood of terrorist attacks still remains relatively low in Malaysia, the influence of ISIS is growing amongst Malaysian radicals. Report any suspicious packages, activity or behaviour to the local authorities.
