Avoid the parliament building in the near-term

The opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has reported that security forces prevented them from entering the parliament building in Male, before quickly closing the building after Speaker Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed opened and closed the session. This is the latest in a series of moves to prevent an impeachment vote attempt against the Speaker.

Those operating or residing in Male are advised to avoid loitering near the parliament building in the capital, as well as other state infrastructure and security personnel, whilst the situation remains ongoing.
