Nepal: A Month of Strikes Announced from 21 February
Expect disruptions for the duration of month long strikes and protests
Disagreements arising from Nepal’s new constitution have led to occasional protests, rallies and strikes throughout the country. A full month of protests and general strikes have now been announced in the Terai region, starting from 21 February. The action is anticipated to cause disruptions to both public and private transport.
Those operating or residing in Nepal are advised to be aware of the general month long strike taking place 21 February. Whilst any protests that take place are expected to remain peaceful, demonstrations in the past have turned violent. As such, it is advisable to avoid any protest sites during this time. Monitor local media for more information concerning the strikes and plan your travel accordingly.
