On 26 April, at least two people of Somali descent were arrested, one on suspicion of being an active member of al-Shabaab terrorist group, during a counter-terror raid in an undisclosed area of Sint-Oedenrode. The information has only just been released to the public.
Those who plan to travel to or within the Netherlands are advised to be aware of the latest arrests of suspected terrorists. Whilst the arrests do not pose a direct threat to foreign nationals, travellers are nonetheless advised to remain vigilant and to be aware of the threat of Islamic extremism and terrorism in Europe. Report any suspicious packages, activity or behaviour to the local authorities.
