North Korea states that Darwin will be the site of nuclear was as 1,250 US Marines arrive

In another threat directed towards Australia, Rodong Sinmun, a prominent newspaper of the ruling Worker’s Party of North Korea that publishes state propaganda, has published claims that Darwin will be the site of the coming nuclear war, whilst accusing the US of using Australia as a base to prepare to carry out an attack against them. Earlier last week, the USS Carl Vison and at least 1,250 US Marines arrived in Darwin for military training exercises with Australian and Chinese forces. Two days ago, North Korea threatened Australia with a nuclear war, warning that the country was in range of a catastrophic strike and that they should not ‘cosy up’ to the US Vice President as he visited. Mike Pence’s visit to Australia was dominated by a discussion over the threat of North Korea’s nuclear weapons and missile programmes.

Meanwhile, the US has begun to move parts of the controversial Terminal High Altitude Area Defence (THAAD) anti-missile defence system to a planned deployment site in South Korea. The US and South Korea have agreed to deploy THAAD in response to the escalating threat of missile launched by North Korea.

Those operating or residing in Australia are advised to be aware of escalating tensions with North Korea, who have threatened the country with nuclear war. South Korea has said that they would quadruple the reward they will pay for North Korean defectors who will share information which will help enhance security.
