The Armed Forces of the Philippines have confirmed that Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) have beheaded another of their kidnap victims. The victim was one of the crew members of the FB Ramona, who was taken from the Celebes Sea along with three others last December. He was beheaded in the vicinity of Western Patikul, Sulu. The Philippine Army has declared ‘all-out war’ with ASG on the islands of Jolo and Basilan.
Those operating or residing in the Philippines are advised to defer all non-essential travel to the Sulu archipelago, including to the major islands of Basilan and Jolo, due to the threat of kidnapping and extreme violence. Contract a reliable local security escort for purposes of business and critical travel.
