Protesting spills into the seventh day in Romania

Romania’s prime minister has said that the ruling coalition will not resign, despite mass demonstrations and protests spilling into their seventh day. Unrest continues in the capital, Bucharest, with thousands of supporters convening outside the presidential palace. Elsewhere, protesters continue to gather at Victory Square, the site of the biggest protests in Romania since communism was overthrown in 1989. Tens of thousands protested across Romania on Monday evening, even after the controversial decree was repealed. Although the crowds were much thinner compared to the previous six days, when hundreds of thousands flocked to the streets of the capital Bucharest and many others elsewhere in Romania, the numbers of protesters are still vast. In addition, Romanians are also staging rallies in other countries to protest against corruption, with 2000 taking to the streets in London and 1500 in Brussels.
