Somalia: Soldiers Injured in Explosions Across Mogadishu

Soldiers injured in IED and landmine explosion

At least two government soldiers were injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded at a security checkpoint in Mogadishu’s Wadajir district. Hours after the initial explosion, three others were injured when their National Intelligence and Security Agency (ISA) vehicle was struck by a landmine explosion in northern Mogadishu.

For any business-critical travel in Somalia, travellers are advised to vary their routines regularly and avoid all travel after dark. Al-Shabaab and other Islamic extremists frequently carry out attacks and kidnap travellers. Attacks are generally directed at security force checkpoints, government buildings, police stations and hotels. Exercise particular caution in and around these areas and report any suspicious packages, behaviour or activity to the authorities.
