A spokesperson for the Interior Ministry has announced that two Moroccan nationals have been arrested on suspicion of recruiting for Islamic State (IS). The suspects were detained during an early morning counter-terror raid in Badalona, Catalonia. Security operations are ongoing in the suspects’ apartments.
Those who plan to travel to or within Spain are advised to be aware of the latest arrest of suspected Islamic State supporters. Whilst the arrests do not pose a direct threat to foreign nationals, travellers are nonetheless advised to remain vigilant. Report any suspicious packages or behaviour to the local authorities.
