Thailand: Gunman Shoots Dead One Civilian During an Ambush
One dead in separatist related violence
A man has been shot dead by an unidentified gunman with an assault rifle, as he was riding home on his motorcycle in Ban Pia, tambon Dato, part of Pattani province’s Nong Chik district. Local authorities expect that separatist insurgents were behind the ambush.
Those operating or residing in Thailand are advised to be aware of violent attacks carried out by separatist insurgents. Travel in convoy where possible and avoid commonly targeted public markets, transport hubs and military infrastructure, especially in the southern provinces. Report any suspicious packages, behaviour or activity to the authorities and remain vigilant.
