Expect heightened security as verdict of high-profile case is set to be annoucned
On 23 August, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) issued updated travel advice for Thailand, advising that “on 25 August 2017, the verdict in a case concerning former Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is scheduled to be delivered at the Chaeng Wattana Government Office in Bangkok; a high level of security and checkpoints on main roads into Bangkok will cause increased congestion and traffic delays; access to the immigration office at Chaeng Wattana may be severely constrained; you should avoid large gatherings in the area and follow the advice of local authorities.”
