Security forces have fired tear gas into crowds of people, to disperse demonstrators and to retake control of the Vana petrol pumping station in Tataouine province. The protests were against the lack of economic opportunities available in Tunisia and took place in several petrol and gas pumping stations across the country.
Those operating or residing in Tunisia are advised to expect protests of a similar nature to continue in the near-term. Avoid all large crowds of people due to the credible threat of protest related violence and detention by security forces. On strike days, expect disruptions to public transport and plan your travel accordingly.
