Turkey: Hundreds Detained Amid Large-Scale Anti-Drug Raid in Ankara
200 detained in anti-drug raids
At least 200 people have been detained, after 3000 police officers in 600 teams, supported with sniffer dogs and helicopters, carried out anti-drug raids at 250 separate addresses across Ankara. The raids were said to be the result of a six month investigation.
Those operating or residing in Turkey are advised to be aware of the current political climate and of heightened tensions amid a prolonged crackdown. Further purges of the police, judiciary and police are likely to continue. Limit your exposure to military installations and government buildings and refrain from discussing politics in public spaces.
