United Kingdom: Armed Police Will Now Protect the Changing Guard Soldiers
Increased security at the changing of the guard ceremony
Specialist firearms officers are now part of a huge operation to protect troops performing the changing of the guard ceremony outside Windsor Castle. The soldiers will now be chaperoned along the entire 300-yard route, by armed police officers and community support officers, whilst being flanked by armed response vehicles carrying an arsenal of weapons and ammunition. The concern of the government that terrorist groups will launch more deadly attacks, that police chiefs have also ordered Guards regiments to scale down public ceremonies.
Those operating or residing in the UK are advised to be aware of a heightened security presence at the changing of the guard ceremony as Windsor. The increased security presence is indicative of growing concerns of the government that a terrorist attack may take place. Report any suspicious packages, behaviour or activity to the authorities and remain vigilant.
