Two of the three London Bridge attackers have been identified as British extremist Khuram Butt and Libyan-Moroccan Rachid Redouane. Butt had previously featured and been filmed in a programme on Islamic extremists, seen holding an Islamic State flag on television. He had been reported to the police on several occasions. Butt, who was born in Pakistan, was so extreme that he called other Muslims without beards ‘non-believers’ and would not speak to women directly. He had also been banned from a mosque for calling other worshippers ‘un-Islamic’. Rachid Redouane was not known to the authorities and was a Moroccan-Libyan pastry chef living in Ireland. Further details on the third terrorist have not yet been released.
Those operating or residing in the UK are advised to be aware of the threat of Islamic extremism and terrorism. Report any suspicious packages, activity or behaviour to the local authorities and remain vigilant.
